From zero to fully automated production

How Betergevel is transforming the facade industry with Odoo

Betergevel is not a traditional manufacturing company. They literally started with an empty factory hall and an ambitious idea: to produce facades for chalet construction faster, more efficiently, and more intelligently. To achieve that, they needed an ERP solution that was just as flexible and powerful as their vision.

Odoo proved to be the perfect platform – and Odoo Experts the right partner not only to implement the system, but also to connect it intelligently to the production processes, drawing packages, and planning software. Within a few months, there was a complete digital backbone in place, ready for scaling up.

The challenge: a manufacturing company without existing processes

Betergevel was set up from a sister company in plastic window frames. In chalet construction, the need arose to supply not only window frames, but complete facades. This requires customization, just-in-time planning, and seamless communication between sales, work preparation, and production.

A traditional approach using spreadsheets, separate systems, or manual handovers was not an option. Everything had to be scalable and professional from day one.

“We had no time to lose. The factory was being built while the system was being set up. That means making choices, setting priorities, and automating.”
— Project Manager Betergevel

The solution: Odoo as the central platform

Odoo is modularly built as an ERP system and is therefore ideal for a new company. You only enable what you need and can easily expand later. At Betergevel, these Odoo apps were used, among others:

  • CRM: manage leads and inquiries
  • Sales: quotations, orders and customer portal
  • Manufacturing: bills of materials, work orders and routings
  • Purchase & inventory: automatic replenishment based on minimum stock
  • Invoicing & accounting
  • Time tracking & project management
  • Quality, HR and leave
  • Website builder with customer portal

Thanks to this combination, every step, from customer inquiry to delivery, is digitally managed from one system .

Smart integrations: from sketch to factory

What makes this implementation truly unique is its integration with other tools:

1. Vertex

The drawing package that generates the bills of materials based on the facade designs. Odoo receives these as input for production and quotation building.

2. GranIT

The planning tool that determines the order in which machines are used. Odoo sends the work orders to GranIT and receives production data back.

3. The Betergevel Tool

A custom bridge that, among other things, provides:

  • linking Vertex to Odoo
  • Creation of products, bills of materials and quotations
  • Registration of working hours
  • Management of production runs

4. Jopps

The window frame software. The output is integrated into the bills of materials in Odoo, so that each product is fully traceable.

5. External configurator

Customers can configure facades via a web-based tool. The inquiry automatically enters Odoo CRM, including the calculated sales price .

One central flow: from customer inquiry to delivery

The entire operation revolves around digitizing the customer journey. This is how it works:

  1. Inquiry comes in via email or configurator → automatically becomes a sales opportunity.
  2. Work planner draws facades in Vertex → bills of materials are imported into Odoo.
  3. Quotation is generated, including drawings as an attachment → customer confirms via the portal.
  4. Upon payment Odoo automatically activates production and logistics.
  5. Delivery is scheduled by region → customer receives a confirmation.
  6. Return racks are tracked via barcode and automatically requested back.

In addition, all costs and revenues are automatically linked to the correct cost center – from the very first contact .

Logistics and rack registration: more than just ERP

Betergevel delivers its facades on so-called racks or flatracks. These are owned by Betergevel and must be collected after delivery. Within Odoo, a complete tracking system has been built for these racks:

  • Each rack has a unique serial number and barcode
  • The location is automatically tracked (customer / warehouse)
  • Customers can indicate via the portal that a rack is empty
  • If there is no response, automatic follow-up by email follows
  • Only authorized persons can correct incorrect registration

This application shows how Odoo is not only an ERP system, but can also support logistics processes at a detailed level .

Short lead time, tight planning

The entire implementation took place within 15 weeks – from quotation to first production. Thanks to a phased approach and a clear MVP (minimum viable product), only what was truly needed for the go-live was built. Other wishes were postponed to phase 2 to prevent scope creep.

“If you want everything at once, it is guaranteed to fail. Betergevel understood that, and that made this project a success.”
— Erwin van der Ploeg, Odoo Experts

What can you learn from this case?

This implementation is a strong example for any company that:

  • Is starting from scratch and wants to set everything up properly
  • Needs smart integrations between software and machines
  • Wants to gain control over production, costs and delivery reliability
  • Is not afraid to embrace and adapt standard processes

And above all: that an ERP implementation can also be fast and manageable, if you work with the right partner.
