WeissBioTech GmbH

WeissBioTech GmbH used Odoo to connect liquid enzyme production, inventory, quality workflows and core business administration.

WeissBioTech GmbH produces and blends liquid enzymes and wanted an Odoo setup aligned with a related group implementation. Odoo brought sales, purchasing, inventory, manufacturing, quality, documents and accounting together in one connected environment. This created a clearer operational foundation for controlled production, shared data and further standardization.

WeissBioTech GmbH

Customer profile

WeissBioTech GmbH is a German sister company within a broader group structure and focuses on the production and blending of enzymes. Its activities center on liquid enzyme products , which brings specific requirements for manufacturing, stock handling and quality control. In that context, the company needed a business platform that could support day-to-day operations in a more integrated way and reflect how its processes actually interact across departments.

The project could benefit from an existing implementation within the same group, which offered a relevant starting point and practical experience. At the same time, WeissBioTech could not simply copy that setup without adjustment. The company has its own operational details, its own master data and its own accounting requirements. The implementation therefore had to combine group-level experience with a configuration that matched the company’s local and operational reality.

Reason for change

The main reason for change was the need to organize core business processes in one connected environment. For a manufacturing company, sales, purchasing, inventory, production and administration affect each other constantly. When information is fragmented or activities are handled separately, teams can lose time, duplicate work or struggle to maintain a clear overview of materials, orders and follow-up actions. A more integrated setup was therefore an important operational step.

Another factor was the decision to use the earlier Breatec implementation as a reference point. That setup already included process choices and manufacturing customization relevant to a comparable business. However, WeissBioTech also needed an approach that respected German accounting requirements and its own process profile. The project was therefore shaped as a targeted adaptation rather than a direct rollout, balancing reuse with local needs and practical process fit.

Challenge

The core challenge was to connect tightly linked processes in a production environment where precision matters. With liquid enzymes, product structures, stock movements, quality checks and documentation are closely related. A change in one activity can have immediate consequences for the next step in the chain. The solution therefore needed to do more than cover separate functions.

It had to provide enough operational coherence to support execution, control and day-to-day coordination. A second challenge concerned the implementation approach itself. The project was planned largely as a remote rollout, with on-site presence only at key stages. That increases the importance of preparation, training and handover. Data readiness was also essential: master data such as contacts, products, product categories, bills of materials, opening balances and starting inventory positions had to be prepared through import templates, enabling a careful data setup without relying on historical transaction imports.

Odoo solution

Odoo was implemented as the central platform for the main operational and administrative processes of WeissBioTech. The design built on proven experience from within the group, making it possible to reuse working concepts instead of starting from scratch. At the same time, the setup was aligned with the company’s own manufacturing context, including liquid enzyme production and the need to connect order handling, purchasing, inventory and manufacturing in one consistent flow.

For accounting, the project involved cooperation with a specialized German Odoo partner so that the financial setup could align with local requirements. Odoo Experts connected that accounting stream with the broader implementation and ensured internal knowledge transfer for ongoing support. In addition, existing customization for activity-based manufacturing from the related group implementation was reused. This created a balanced solution that combined standard Odoo capabilities with focused reuse of relevant extensions.

Apps and processes

On the commercial and administrative side, the project involved CRM, Sales, Accounting and Documents. Leads and quotations can move into sales orders, after which downstream logistics or manufacturing activities can continue from the same data foundation. Documents adds support for structured file handling, categorization, archiving and document-driven workflows. Together, these apps support a connected order and information flow that helps departments work from shared records rather than isolated updates.

For operational execution, the relevant process areas include Inventory, Manufacturing, Purchase, PLM, Quality and Employees. These apps support receipts, deliveries, internal transfers, returns, stock counts, batch or wave picking and manufacturing orders. They also provide a place for engineering change handling, bill of materials updates, quality control points, alerts and employee files. This combination supports an integrated manufacturing and quality process in which materials, documentation and actions are more closely aligned.

Result

The realized result of the project is a stronger foundation for integrated work in Odoo. WeissBioTech now has a setup in which key data, master data and process steps are organized in relation to each other instead of standing apart. Through training, master data import and coordination with specialized partners, the implementation established a practical basis for daily use. That gives the organization more structure and supports one coherent process foundation across multiple teams.

The expected long-term value lies in further standardization, better traceability and smoother cooperation between commercial, logistics, manufacturing and administrative roles. In an environment built around liquid products and quality requirements, it is important that processes remain transparent and repeatable. Odoo supports that direction by bringing data and actions closer together in one system. This creates room for better control during growth and for future optimization based on a shared operational platform.
