How Betergevel is transforming the façade industry with Odoo
Betergevel is not a traditional manufacturing company. They literally started with an empty factory hall and an ambitious idea: to produce façades for chalet construction faster, more efficiently, and more intelligently. To make that happen, they needed an ERP solution as flexible and powerful as their vision.
Odoo turned out to be the perfect platform, and Odoo Experts the right partner to not only implement the system, but also to cleverly connect it to the production processes, design software, and planning tools. Within a few months, a fully digital backbone was in place, ready for scaling up.
The challenge: a manufacturing company without existing processes
Betergevel was founded as a sister company to a business in plastic window frames. In the chalet construction industry, the need arose not just to supply window frames, but complete façades. This requires custom solutions, just-in-time planning, and seamless communication between sales, work preparation, and production.
A traditional approach with spreadsheets, separate systems, or manual handovers was not an option. Everything had to be scalable and professional from day one.

The solution: Odoo as the central platform
Odoo is a modular ERP system, making it ideal for a new company. You activate only what you need and easily expand later. At Betergevel, the following Odoo apps were implemented, among others:
- CRM: manage leads and inquiries
- Sales: quotations, orders, and customer portal
- Manufacturing: bills of materials, work orders, and routings
- Purchasing & Inventory: automatic replenishment based on minimum stock levels
- Invoicing & Accounting
- Timesheets & Project Management
- Quality, HR, and Time Off
- Website Builder with Customer Portal
Thanks to this combination, every step – from customer request to delivery – is digitally managed from a single system.
Smart integrations: from sketch to factory
What truly makes this implementation unique is the integration with other tools:
1. Vertex
The design software that generates bills of materials based on the façade designs. Odoo receives these as input for both production and quotation building.
2. GranIT
The planning tool that determines the sequence in which machines are used. Odoo sends the work orders to GranIT and receives production data in return.
3. The Betergevel Tool
A custom-built bridge that enables, among other things:
- Integration from Vertex to Odoo
- Creation of products, bills of materials, and quotations
- Registration of working hours
- Management of production runs
4. Jopps
The window frame software. Its output is integrated into the bills of materials in Odoo, ensuring full traceability of every product.
5. External configurator
Customers can configure façades through a web-based tool. The request is automatically received in Odoo CRM, including the calculated sales price.
One central flow: from customer request to delivery
The entire operation revolves around digitizing the customer journey. Here’s how it works:
- Request comes in via email or configurator → automatically becomes a sales opportunity.
- Work planner designs façades in Vertex → bills of materials are imported into Odoo.
- Quotation is generated, including drawings as attachments → customer confirms via the portal.
- Upon payment, Odoo automatically triggers production and logistics.
- Delivery is scheduled by region → customer receives a confirmation.
- Return racks are tracked via barcode and automatically requested back.
In addition, all costs and revenues are automatically linked to the correct cost center – from the very first contact.
Logistics and rack tracking: more than just ERP
Betergevel delivers its façades on so-called racks or flatracks. These are owned by Betergevel and must be retrieved after delivery. Within Odoo, a complete tracking system for these racks has been built:
- Each rack has a unique serial number and barcode
- The location is automatically tracked (customer / warehouse)
- Customers can indicate via the portal that a rack is empty
- If there is no response, automatic follow-up is sent by email
- Only authorized personnel can correct incorrect registrations
This application shows how Odoo is not just an ERP system, but also capable of supporting logistics processes in great detail.
Short lead time, tight planning
The entire implementation was completed within 15 weeks – from quotation to first production. Thanks to a phased approach and a clear MVP (minimum viable product), only what was truly necessary for go-live was built. Additional features were moved to phase 2 to prevent scope creep.
